Coleen Madamombe
Coleen Madamombe was born in 1964 in Harare and is established as the leading female sculpture artist currently in Zimbabwe.
She has her own very individual style and choice of subject matter - most apparent in her works of woman hood - from young girls, through pregnancy and motherhood to the authority of the tribal matriarch.
Her unique style clearly depicts her pride in being a woman and every piece carries a story of it's own.
Coleen Madamombe works predominantly in springstone, often using the outer blanket of the stone and creating many different textures to contrast with the polished surfaces.
